What's New

Medisoft

New Version Released

Medisoft Version 14 has been released. (No, you didn’t miss Version 13, Medisoft skipped that number.)

Two new features:

  1. Customizable patient entry screen
  2. Administrative desktop

For the rest of the features, go to Version 14 Features.pdf on the RKS Resources page.

Reminder: May 23, 2008 is the final deadline for all doctors and practices to be submitting claims (both electronic and paper formats) using their NPI number on CMS1500.

Medisoft Training CDs

Did you know there are Medisoft CDs to help you learn to use Medisoft? Training CDs can provide the help needed by your staff to learn to use Medisoft. They can be used to train new staff, or as a refresher course on using seldom used features.

RKS has two sources for training CDs.

  1. Medisoft has a set of 7 Training CD’s available to help you learn how to use Medisoft. Available individually or as a set.
  2. Design 44 (a third party) has created Medisoft Training Videos, a set of 5 DVDs.

BillFlash Medical Billing Software

BillFlash is now available through RKS. This is a proven solution to get your patient statements sent out regularly. Saves time and money. See the RKS Medical page for information or call us.

Point of Success

Version 2.5
Point of Success released Version 2.52. You can now export accounting information into QuickBooks.

Central Reporting
Point of Success just released their latest module, Central Reporting. This is great for multi-site restaurants. Now each restaurant can create the reports and send them directly to the central office. Central office staff no longer need to access each restaurant location individually.

MicroBiz Software Reseller

MicroBiz plans to release their latest version, 2.5, in May, 2008. This new version adds a lot of new features that should be of value to retail stores.
A few important ones are:

  1. Barcode on bottom of invoice to aid in processing returns.
  2. Vendor part numbers on inventory reports.
  3. E-mail purchase orders to vendors.

Sage BusinessWorks

New Version 8 was just released and will work with the new Microsoft Vista operating system. The new version CD has been shipped to current Client Care plan subscribers. If you didn’t receive your copy or you want information about the latest version, call us.

By The Way...

Are you getting the benefits from the newest versions of your software?

RKS has just added a new web page for you to go to find information on the newest releases of the software we support and sell. You can get to it from here.

Caution: New way to save files in Microsoft Office 2007

In Microsoft Office 2007, saved files add an “x” after the 3 character extension (docx, xlsx, etc.) If you want to save the files in the old format, you will need to change the file type when you are saving/naming a file. Although we haven’t verified this, you should be able to change the default setting to the old format by using Tools/Options/Save. If you are exchanging Office files with other users, they may not be on the new version and won’t be able to open the file if it is saved in the new format.

New computer in your future?

We still recommend you buy an XP Pro machine if you can. Microsoft will still sell and support Windows XP Pro until December 2008. Many programs are Vista compatible, but we have heard of a few problems with Vista machines. Remember, even if the program we sell is Vista compatible, you may be using other software that is not. Check it out before you buy. For RKS’s suggested computer specifications see our Computer Specifications newsletter on our Resources page.

Need to print a copy of the screen?

Remember back in the DOS days, if you wanted a printed copy of the screen on your monitor, all you had to do was push the Print Scrn button. Doesn’t work with Windows though.

But there is a way to get the copy. Press and hold the ALT key and also press the Print Scrn key. You won’t see anything happen, but the computer has taken a snapshot of your screen and placed it on the computer clipboard. Next open a Word or other word processing program. Click on the Paste button (or use Edit and Paste). This will place the snapshot you took into the document as a picture. You can then print out a copy of the screen.
